| The Diva Den finished! |
The summer's heat and a few camping trips to get out of it slowed our progress, but the extra care was DEFINITELY worth the wait! She's BEAUTIFUL and PERFECT!!
Below are photos of the exterior and interior. As you can see, we've got the exterior stained (to protect from our relentless sunshine and extreme temperatures). It fits in with our house very nicely, so I'm thrilled with how it turned out.
As for the interior, we used satin Minwax Polycrylic on the bare wood walls and ceiling that is water-based so it wouldn't darken the color of the pine.
The floor planks were stained in Varathane Ipswich Pine stain before being varnished with satin Varathane Floor Finish High Traffic Polyurethane.
We are getting ready to head off on a long trip to visit family and some wonderful national parks, so the finishes will have a chance to really harden nicely before putting my office furniture into place. I'll post photos again once I get everything things set up.
We also had some wood left over from the kit. Some of it was due to having more windows than the original kit called for, but some was also from the skids and extra wood included with the kit. Brad built a gorgeous potting bench and is in the process of several other projects. I'll post photos of those as well.
And last, but definitely not least, I have to thank my wonderful husband, Brad, for doing such an AMAZING job on this dream "Diva Den!" It has simply surpassed any expectations I could have dreamed of!
