Metal Roof, Battens and Window Trim

Everything being done at this point is exciting since we are adding finish details that will be visible with the final building. We put plywood backing in place for the sunburst we will be creating for the front gable and prepared for the metal roof.

Our next step was adding the Autumn Red metal roof. Each panel was already conveniently cut to the exact length needed, so installation was a very quick process. I thought back to our two previous metal roof installations, both of which were on houses and required special cuts to fit around eaves and corners. Boy was this installation a thousand times easier!

We started on the west side of the house in the morning since it was in the shade. I passed the panels up to Brad, and he screwed them into place. We made quick progress and moved to the east side of the roof and duplicated the process. After getting the panels placed, it was a quick matter of screwing the cap pieces into place. The following photos show the roof being installed.

West side panels installed and ready to move to east side.

The panels get several rows of screws to finalize the installation
Now the shadow trim (below roof line) and window trim is completed
Now that the window trim is done, it is time to finish the siding with the battens. All these details really make this building shine!

Looking good!
