Brad is retiring! Yikes, now what do I do?!

Brad has been the Superintendent of Petrified Forest National Park since 2013, and I've lived in our house in the Dragoon Mountains pretty much that entire time. He's been coming home every other weekend, while I've stayed here working out of my home office.

We have a two-bedroom house and use the second bedroom as my office. Now, with Brad retiring, the house seems to be shrinking dramatically. I still plan on doing my work which is primarily building and maintaining websites but also includes some side work of making soap and other handmade items. He is also going to need his own workspace, although he doesn't do as much computer work as I do.

I've been very interested in having a separate work area for years and have looked at various options. The one that caught my eye several years ago and finally decided upon was the "Home Office" shed from Jamaica Cottages.

It's a very simple but attractive design. The entire building is 12' by 16' which includes a 4' front porch. We ordered the four-season kit with the upgraded tongue and groove floor. We didn't get the windows since we will be ordering our own windows. I'll discuss those in a later post.

Jamaica Cottages is amazing! If you think this is just another Tuff Shed, you've got to look at their offerings. The quality of their products for the prices they charge is truly remarkable.

In fact, I was so impressed with them, I signed up for their affiliate program. If you click on their link and buy one of their plans or kits, I will get a referral commission for recommending them. However, be assured that it is not costing you a dime more by purchasing through the link!

I will be posting our experiences as we move along. My husband and I will be building this a short distance from the house. I can't tell you how excited I am!
