Going vertical! Time to start adding the walls.

This is one of the most exciting moments I've been waiting for - adding the wall framing so that we could actually see a building take shape.

Up until this point, it looked like a small dance floor.☺Now we'll have an actual three-dimensional space with width, height, and depth.

We start by adding the solid 4" by 4" hemlock posts at each corner of the 12' room.
Next we add the top beams and bracing. The beams are already pre-notched to fit. Bracing is included with kit as well.
Since we are customizing the design and adding our own windows, we had to buy 2 x 4s for the additional framing. The above photo shows the east wall with the three casement window locations grayed out to help with visualization.
North (back) wall with awning window location grayed out. We used the included 4" x 4" hemlock framing here. My electric fireplace will be below this window.
This is the west wall showing the location of the in-wall air conditioner (upper left-hand corner) and the casement window to the right. You can also see where we've started putting in the 4" by 4" hemlock bracing in the upper corners. Nothing is going to blow this building down!!
It is so exciting to look out the "windows" and see my views. It's getting easier to visualize the interior all the time. I'm even starting to plan my landscaping.
